Bastrop, Texas
Bastrop, Texas is located in Central Texas 30 miles east of
Austin. It is the County Seat for Bastrop County. Bastrop is rich in
history and natural beauty. The Colorado River runs through both the
City and the County of Bastrop. Early in Texas history it was almost
the capital of Texas but was beat out by what was then known as
Waterloo and later known as Austin due to land prices being cheaper
in what is now Austin.
Bastrop
is now a growing community with a rich heritage,
pines, prairies and a beautiful river
valley. There are three 18 hole golf courses
within just a few miles of downtown Bastrop, a beautiful State Park
and one of the oldest Opera Houses in Texas. Gift and antique stores
adorn Main Street. Historical homes add charm and character in and
around downtown. Chestnut Square is the new family entertainment
center with movie theatres, bowling, pool tables and an arcade
room. Local parks add to family fun with a walking trail from
Fisherman's Park to the other end of downtown Bastrop. Bed and
Breakfast Inns along with hotels and motels provide visitor
accommodations.
There is good shopping with
a super Wal-Mart and super HEB, Home Depot and many,many more
local establishments with lots of color and character. Eating out is
easy with lots of choices. There are rodeos and festivals, art shows
and golf tournaments, football and soccer games. Come on out and see
